The Federal Housing Administration (FHA) made several changes to their loan program this month. These changes will affect anyone wanting to use this loan to purchase Tallahassee real estate.
First, the amount of the upfront mortgage insurance premium has changed. The upfront premium will be reduced from 2.25% to 1%. Second, the monthly mortgage insurance premium has been raised from .55% of the loan amount per year to .85%. Bottom line for Tallahassee home buyers - your FHA premium at the closing table will be lower, but your monthly payment will be a little bit higher.
