This week, mortgage rates stabilized after a large jump the week before.  Rates on the 30-year fixed rate home loan averaged 4.4% this week according to Freddie Mac's weekly survey.  Rates averaged 4.39% last week. 

Where are rates going?  That's really hard to say.  With such uncertainty in the global financial system - European debt woes, Quantitative Easing impacts and the lingering foreclosure wave, rates could be quite volatile.  For every half-point increase in mortgage rates (+0.5% ... like last week), the average Tallahassee home will require a $50 increase in the monthly payment.  Please check this Tallahassee real estate blog weekly for more news on home mortgages.
