For the past five decades, the sun has helped Florida real estate increase in value by drawing thousands of retirees to the Sunshine State.  While the Florida real estate boom and bust has put a damper on that trend, there is ample evidence that folks will again be drawn to their little plot in the sun. 

While we complain of cold in Tallahassee when it's 42F, there are lots of people stuck in Cleveland ice and Chicago snow dreaming of the life we have.  The massive winter storm this week has no doubt re-enforced that feeling.  As the economy clears, people are likely return to the southward migration trends that began in the 1950s.  Even more important is the fact that Baby Boomers - that demographic glut of millions - is about to retire, and it's hard to think they'll just sit around Pittsburgh and Green Bay.

Tallahassee has a lot to offer in the coming years that Baby Boomer retirees are seeking - quality health care, higher education, arts, recreation, warm weather, and great real estate prices.  Maybe the coming years will be a little brighter for Tallahassee home prices.
